Over the past decade, Si Ling and David have performed in numerous celebrations across Singapore. "Our humble little business has evolved from performing
live music to offering planning services and premium products as a one-stop wedding atelier," said Si Ling. "Now, it's our turn to sit back and enjoy our own wedding," the lovely bride continued.
Realizing over the years that large weddings with at least 20 banquet tables don't suit their personality, Si Ling and David decided to keep things small. "We wanted a simple and fun wedding, attended by only direct family members and close friends," Si Ling explained. "In the past, weddings were family affairs and everyone would offer their help to prepare everything. We managed to keep that tradition alive and got all our family members involved in our wedding!" she added.
For their wedding theme, the pair drew inspiration from David's Peranakan heritage. They quickly asked wedding stylist, Pei Li from 8dec to prepare traditional Peranakan props such as a tingkat food container, an antique ang bao box, a bakul siah cake basket, and a blue-and-white porcelain vase. To top things off, Shu Min from Meadows & Clouds added vibrant flowers in red, pink, and yellow, in line with the overall theme. "We also got everyone to dress in kebaya and batik!" said Si Ling.
Another thing that caught our eye was a cut-out decoration bearing the words, "Love Bears All Things". "At a whopping 1.2m x 1.6m, it was the largest cut-out wording that our decorator had done so far!" recalled Si Ling. The tagline could also be found on the couple's handmade wedding favors. "We handpainted 140 mini canvas magnets with the help of Arterspace Art Studio and some of our talented friends," said Si Ling.
As musicians themselves, Si Ling and David made sure that their guests would be entertained by live performances throughout the celebration. The repertoire that day spanned from a Hawaiian wedding song to John Lennon to a Cantonese number! Last but not least, the couple took extra care in choosing the right wedding photographer. "As our wedding was so fun and spontaneous, David and I wanted a photographer who could capture moments instead of group portraits," said Si Ling. Choosing Kelly from Studiokel proved to be the perfect decision. "Kelly was everywhere, literally capturing everyone who attended the wedding," enthused the bride, "It's been said that a picture paints a thousand words and Kelly's pictures tell a whole lot of wonderful stories!"
